Global learning

A connected university,
wherever learning begins.

Academic connection through a digital campus. Human connection through a wider learning community and participating GOE Centers.

A learner receives support from a local learning adviser
Global learning works best when support is close enough to use.

One academic community.
Many ways to connect.

Your programme connects you to university teaching, resources, assessment and fellow learners across locations.

GOE Centers belong to the Global Open Education ecosystem and can complement that experience with local guidance, study spaces and community. Available services depend on the authorised arrangements for each centre.

Clear roles make a stronger experience.

Local support and university responsibility should work together transparently.

A week with room to learn.

An illustrative rhythm for online study. Actual timetables, attendance and workload depend on your approved programme and cohort.

  1. 01

    Prepare

Read, watch or investigate the week’s question. Make notes on what you understand and what you need to ask.

  2. 02

    Connect

Join a scheduled seminar or discussion. Check the time zone, participation expectations and any recording arrangements.

  3. 03

    Collaborate

Work with peers on a defined task. Agree roles, use shared documents and make progress visible.

  4. 04

    Apply

Develop an assignment, experiment or project output. Use approved facilities when practical work requires them.

  5. 05

    Reflect

Review feedback, ask for help and plan the next week. Keep a record of decisions and improvements.

Online teaching & interaction

Programme materials, guided discussions, tutor feedback and scheduled sessions connect your study. Ask about live attendance, time-zone arrangements, response expectations and access to recordings before enrolment.

Practical learning & assessment

Online delivery does not automatically mean that every activity can be completed at home. Programmes may need specialist software, a safe practical setting, approved fieldwork or supervised assessment. The location, costs and requirements must be confirmed in advance.

Local support through GOE Centers

An authorised centre may offer orientation, study space, connectivity or approved local support. It does not independently award an Acedex qualification or make university admissions and assessment decisions. Services and charges vary by approved arrangement.

Lecturers, classmates & support

Check how to book academic guidance, raise an access need and work with classmates. Your programme should explain contact routes, collaboration expectations and the process for escalating an unresolved concern.

Prepare your learning environment.

Use this checklist when discussing the practical arrangements for your chosen programme.

Device & connection

Check the approved software, device requirements, data needs and whether activities can be completed with intermittent connectivity.

Time & attendance

Confirm weekly workload, live-session times, attendance requirements, assessment dates and any travel commitments.

Access & support

Discuss accessibility adjustments, learning resources, academic guidance and support routes before study begins.

Local arrangements

Verify any proposed centre, practical venue, service fee and travel requirement directly with the university.

Build a study routine that works.

Prepare your connection

Check your device, software, connectivity and access to a productive study environment.

Make time for learning

Understand scheduled sessions, independent-study expectations, project deadlines and collaboration across time zones.

Use the support available

Know how to contact your academic team, access learning resources and raise a question early.

Find the right local connection.

Tell us where you plan to study and what support you need. We can help identify the questions to ask about participating GOE Centers and their authorised services.

A verified directory will be published as participation and service arrangements are confirmed. Check a centre’s status and any local fees directly before making a commitment.
